ARHAI Scotland were made aware of a discrepancy within the NIPCM in relation to mask use when caring for patients with Pneumocystis jirovecii. Appendix 11 and the PCP staff information leaflet have now been updated to ensure alignment.

Fluid resistant surgical masks (FRSM) should be used in line with droplet precautions where symptoms of respiratory infection are present in a patient with Pneumocystis jirovecii'.
